Canandaigua Computer Service

Terms & Conditions

These terms explain use of the CCS website and general conditions for CCS services. Please review them before requesting assistance.

Last updated: October 1, 2026

1. About these terms

These terms describe use of the Canandaigua Computer Service website and general conditions for computer repair, IT support, and consulting services. “CCS,” “we,” and “us” refer to Canandaigua Computer Service.

Website information does not itself authorize service work. The equipment, requested assistance, and scope of work are discussed with the customer before an engagement. Customers should review these terms when requesting assistance and ask about anything they do not understand.

2. Services and scope of work

CCS assists home users and small businesses with computer troubleshooting, hardware upgrades, setup, data transfer and backup, recovery assistance, networks, consulting, and personal cybersecurity.

Service may be provided onsite, remotely, or through scheduled pickup and drop-off, depending on the issue. Work is performed on a best-effort basis. Available options and results depend on equipment condition, configuration, access, and the agreed scope.

3. Estimates and authorization

Whenever possible, CCS provides an estimate before beginning work. An estimate is not a guarantee of the final scope; additional issues may become apparent during assessment or service.

CCS discusses proposed additional work and obtains customer approval before proceeding. If the customer declines additional work, that work will not be performed. Customers may ask for clarification about the proposed work before authorizing it.

4. Customer responsibilities and authorized access

Customers should provide accurate information about the issue, relevant recent changes, and necessary equipment or accessories. They must own the equipment or have authority to authorize the requested work and access.

Customers should disclose restrictions affecting employer-managed devices, software, accounts, or networks. CCS does not perform unauthorized access or bypass ownership controls. Some tasks require the customer to participate in account sign-in or security verification.

5. Data, backups, and recovery

Customers are responsible for arranging backups of important information before service. Tell CCS about important files, existing backups, or suspected storage failure before work begins. If backup or transfer assistance is required, discuss it as part of the scope.

CCS takes reasonable care with devices and data. Pre-existing damage, storage failure, software corruption, or inaccessible accounts can limit what is possible. Some authorized procedures can affect files, applications, or settings; material risks should be discussed before proceeding.

Data recovery cannot be guaranteed. These terms do not remove responsibility that applicable law places on CCS.

6. Credentials, remote access, and confidentiality

Access to a device or account may be needed for authorized service. Customers should enter passwords themselves where practical and should not send passwords, verification codes, banking credentials, or sensitive identity documents by email.

Credentials shared for service are used solely for that purpose and are not retained after the work is complete. CCS accesses information as needed for the requested work and uses reasonable care when handling personal information.

Remote access requires customer authorization. A remote session should end when the authorized assistance is complete. Any continuing access or ongoing support arrangement requires a separate discussion and authorization.

7. Hardware, software, and third-party providers

Compatibility and availability affect hardware and software recommendations. Customer-supplied items may have compatibility problems, defects, licensing restrictions, or support limitations that affect the work.

Manufacturer warranties may apply to supplied hardware or replacement parts. A manufacturer warranty is provided by that manufacturer, subject to its terms. Third-party defects and service interruptions may be outside CCS’s control; this does not exclude responsibilities imposed on CCS by law.

Customers must have appropriate authorization and licenses for software. Account providers, internet providers, and other vendors control their own services and recovery processes.

8. Service outcomes and limitations

Some faults are intermittent or difficult to reproduce. An assessment or repair cannot prevent every future problem, and additional issues may arise from unrelated hardware, software, or changes.

Cybersecurity assistance can reduce risk but cannot guarantee that a device or account will never be compromised. CCS cannot guarantee account restoration or recovery of money lost to fraud. Financial institutions and official agencies handle financial reports and investigations.

9. Safe working conditions and refusal of service

CCS may decline or discontinue work involving unsafe conditions, threats or abusive behavior, illegal requests, suspected unauthorized access, or equipment outside the supported scope.

If work cannot continue, CCS will explain the concern and discuss the status of the authorized work with the customer.

10. Website information and external resources

FAQs, Knowledge Base explanations, safety guides, and Scam Watch reports provide general educational information. Guidance may not apply to every device or situation and does not replace an individual assessment.

CCS aims to provide useful information, but website content may become outdated or incomplete. Scam reports and statistics should be read with their cited sources and dates. General information is not legal or financial advice.

External websites operate independently and may change. A link does not imply affiliation, endorsement, or control of the external service.

11. Website content and acceptable use

CCS owns its original website text, branding, and graphics, subject to any applicable licenses. Third-party trademarks, logos, and materials remain the property of their respective owners. Obtain permission before reproducing CCS’s original material beyond uses permitted by law.

Do not use the website or CCS identity for impersonation, malicious activity, unauthorized access, interference with service, or other unlawful purposes.

12. Liability and consumer rights

To the extent permitted by applicable law, CCS is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits or business interruption, arising from website use or services.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, total liability for a specific service is limited to the amount paid for that service. These limitations do not apply where prohibited by law and do not excuse conduct or obligations that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Nothing in these terms limits or waives rights or remedies available under applicable consumer-protection law, including New York law.

13. Governing law and service questions

These terms are governed by the laws of New York State, subject to applicable law and consumer rights. Contact CCS with questions about authorized work, an estimate, or a service concern so the matter can be discussed.

14. Changes to these terms

The revision date identifies the version published on this page. Future updates do not automatically change terms previously accepted for an existing engagement. Ask CCS if you need clarification about which terms apply to your work.
